It is imperative to sensitize kids from a very early age about the need to ‘go green’ and save the environment. Involving them in awareness programs that can be made fun with drawing, coloring and painting pictures of vegetation and wildlife and making posters with catchy slogans to preserve the earth and its natural resources, will help children grow up with a deep regard for Nature and humankind’s responsibility to preserve it. Schools have a great role in inculcating a sense of concern among children for the depleting natural resources in the world.

Learning is fun. Hardcore is academics is boring, though. Along with lessons in Math, Science and Social Studies, it should be interesting to learn creative arts such as painting, photography, clay modeling, Japanese paper art known as Ikebana, to mention a few. These lessons can beat the stress of learning heavy stuff and can relax a person while he or she is absorbed in letting the imagination take wings and exercise the psychomotor function that is most often dormant while studying academic subjects. An added advantage is that the finished product—be it a fabric painting, glass painting, a flower arrangement or a clay model can be displayed for the viewing pleasure of others.

Miracle Baby

Dylan, is a 16 weeks premature kid weighing only 1 pound, 3 ounces, and was only11 inches long, born to Mrs. Ewing of Georgia 4 years ago. Now the kid has developed into a normal child and has started walking. This is really a miracle and has been achieved totally by the care of the child parents and doctors.

Weird but true. How else could we say about this news? An osprey from Perthshire has laid its 53rd egg. The pretty old bird made love to a new male and laid its 53rd egg. This is record break news. For any bird this is an unachievable feat in its lifetime. So this news is a really surprising one for people in Perthshire.

Kyle Maynard, a successful wrestler had a serious deformity called congenital amputation. He suffered a lot. But never did he give up. He swam through the number of challenges that life posed him and emerged as a successful wrestler.

As parents of teenage kids, we bare witness to their infatuations and heartbreaks. It is a real experience to see our kids so happy when their heart is set on someone and then we can witness their misery when their heart breaks. We as parents are only allowed to watch them suffer and are not let into sharing their misery. It is a tough job.
